They represent my Sacred Journey and the Journey of my People, from a state of invisibility , to that of visibility and significance .

THE WAY

This is one of my virtual spaces.

It portrays my personal struggles, but also my personal  victories.

It portrays the personal struggles and  victories of my People.

It speaks of my Healing Path  , and  the   Journey into Healing walked by my People.

Know this...

A feather can fall.

But, in a blink it can once again be swept skyward !

And that is the Way. of survival.

I have portrayed my Journey through my art, as I am moved during my Vision Quests.

The art of Sa'ke'j  ( Victor James Muise )  is  visionary and multi-dimensional  in style.

 It is true SPIRIT ART in that , as with all great art , he paints as he is moved by Spirit.. Paintings  manifest following his VISION QUESTS.

Greetings,

Elder Sa'ke'J Muise has many talents.......being a professional artist is  just one of them.

The ELDER says that he paints mostly during the Winter.

His work sells very quickly, once completed.

Each of his artistic works is the manifestation of a VISION.

First comes the  VISION, then the painting.

Most of the world's greatest artists  speak of embracing the same creative process......VISION...then.... PAINTING !

Many paintings done by the Elder can be seen below.
Some  have been completed on birch rind.
The ELDER speaks of his work:
"Wela'lin ":
"O kji niskam ,( O. Great Spirit ) has many gifts, and there are Many Teachings within that painting".
"That is where my Journey began ,with a Mi'kmaq woodland Pipe ,and a two sided drum, made by an Elder and when I was Chief in the St. George's band. He presented the sacred object to me in 1989 and I still carry then with me at times".
"The woodland pipe I passed it on to other people and the pipe still came back to me. I only use it for teaching in the day school system".
"It is very important to know the different kinds of pipes that women or men carry for different reasons. Some times it is only between you and the Creator and still there is understanding and knowledge you can share with others ".
In the past Mi'kmaq people often painted on birch rind using natural paints made from roots and plants."
